Are you planning to travel and
you are worried about the accommodation during your trip? Having put a lot of
time researching motels and hotels, are you still unable to which one suits you
the best? Are you still unable to decide where you should make your
reservations?
Take a moment here and see what
suits you the best.
First apparent difference would
be in their size, construction and layout. In hotels, you will normally find
many rooms on separate floors so that you have to use stairways, elevators or
internal hallways to access your room. Motels, on the other hand, normally have
one or two floors and have doors build in such a way that you can access your
room directly from the parking area without passing through any lobbies or
corridors.
Secondly, they differ in terms of
services they provide. Hotels will provide you all sorts of modern amenities –
be they restaurant/bar, gym, swimming pools, room service, shutter services,
spas, massage parlors or seminar halls. While, initially, motels were supposed
to provide accessible nightly accommodations for travelers en route, their
establishments are designed usually for cozy rooms to sleep in only. You can
assume motels as a
hotel with hotbreakfast only without any other facilities like hotels provide. But,
nowadays, you can find motels with some of the useful amenities. Services like
Pet-friendly motels have
attracted so much customers over past years. However, hotels always come first
in this regard.
Thirdly, but probably, the most
important distinguishing factor between a motel and a hotel is the price they
charge. In most of the circumstances, hotels tend to charge more than the
motels due to numerous services they offer. But mind you, the rate of a hotel
for a night’s stay in a less urban area may cost you more or less same as the
rate of motel in city areas.
Finally, there are other factors
that you may sometime consider too. For instance, you can book more nights in
hotel as hotels are meant to cater to an extended stay. You will usually find
motels in less populated areas, as in highways, while you will find hotels in
cities and urban areas.
Decide which one will satisfy
your requirements. Then, you are good to go!
